Win XP SP/1a - "D-Link-302g" modem --1.1gig Athlon, 1gig ram.
After some time, I lose all connections to HTTP for some reason I dont understand.
I can have a connection to any other program, eg: WinMX & all works, but when I wish to browse or check my email, I dont have a connection. During this, I can upload & download all I need, using these type of programs.
Any Info would be appreciated.
Regards to all

if checking your mail doesn't work, then it's more then http, as most mail is pop, imap, or smtp. I would check DNS very first, then follow troubleshooting of ip connectivity by pinging via ip, pinging via name.

also, get SP2

Connectivity is good, the router itself is still functioning and many types of activity can still be performed such as nntp, smtp, pop3, etc.

My problem is that as soon as an http download is started by anyone on teh network, it kills port 80 for everyone else. I have seen a few instances where e-mail stopped working briefly, but that may have been an unrelated problem, the http download/port 80 problem is all that I can reproduce consistantly.

DNS is good, SP2 is installed. I'm convinced the issue is with the router itself ?(I'm using Linksys WRT54G v2.0 router running DD-WRT v23 firmware). I've tried changing many of the settings such as BTU (did 1400, 1500, and auto), Qos, and a myriad of others to no avail.

As soon as the http download stops the web pages will pop right up. Also, we have installed netlimiting software to make sure the download isn't just using up all the bandwidth. We can set the http download to only 50 Kb/s on a 512 Kb/s network and induce the problem (both in bits, not bytes).

I'll have my first chance to swap the router out tonight and see what happens.
