What's up with that? Anyone remember the days in the mid 90s when there were several good modern flight sims each year?

Sigh...

It seems no one wants to fly f-15's anymore. IL-2 seems to be the flight sim to beat.

I think its just the style of air battles...modern planes are target about 50 miles out and shoot. WW2 fighters are more intense.

Flight Simulator 2003 is going to be out soon.

Until then, you can check out the new IL-2 Sturmovik -- The Forgotten Battles, or MS Combat Flight Simulator 3.

Hey, I like WWII sims as much as anyone else.

Anyone remember Chuck Yeager's Air Combat?

What about SWOTL?

One of my favorites was Falcon 3.0, way back in the day. The Mig-29 add-on was quite cool.

Long Bow 2 is still the best helicopter combat game.

Aces over Europe/Pacific was a great collection as well.

What have I forgotten?

1. Open up a new document in Excel.
2. Press F5.
3. Type in x97:L97 in the reference box and press enter.
4. Press tab.
5. Hold down ctrl+shift.
6. While holding these two buttons click on the chart wizard button on the icon bar.

<edit>
oh, has to be Excel 97.

Wing Commander 1 was intense on the 386 -- limping back to a carrier landing with sputtering drive and one working laser :)

WC2 + expansions were also great.

I've heard good things about Descent Freespace 2 but only looked briefly at the demo (fun, like flying a little Terran fighter in an episode of Babylon 5).

All space flight sims, but with WWII style dogfighting (and missiles :) )

Actually, for Freespace 2 they do have a Babylon 5 mod.
