No gaming in XP

I just upgraded to Win XP from 98 SE.I did a clean install after fdisking and formatting my hard drives.I chose NTFS since it's supposed to be better.XP is supposed to be compatible with most games, but so far I can't get a single game to play right.Sometimes the sound disappears or the game just locks up.Here's what I'm running:

AMD 1.2 Tbird
Iwill KK266R motherboard(w/up to date bios)
Crucial 256MB CAS2 PC133 SDRAM
Leadtek Geforce2 Pro(w/21.83 drivers)
Aureal Vortex2 soundcard(w/XP provided drivers)
Linksys 10/100 NIC(w/XP provided drivers)
Promise UDMA 100 Card(w/XP provided drivers)
Zoom V.92 PCI Modem(w/up to date drivers)
Maxtor 15 GB UDMA 100 HD on Pri.Raid channel
Maxtor 30 GB UDMA 100 HD on Sec.Raid channel
LS120 drive on Pri.IDE channel
Kenwood 72X CDROM on Sec.IDE channel
Western Digital 40 GB UDMA 100 HD on Pri. Promise card channel
Sony 10X CDRW on Sec.Promise card channel

I'm not overclocking and XP runs fine except for playing games.I've tried about 6 or 8 games, and they all refuse to run right, even in compatibility mode.I've tried installing the 435 version 4in1 drivers with no success.I tried to install the new XP raid driver for the board but Xp wont let me for some reason.I'm using the raid channels for regular IDE anyway.Anyone have any ideas about what's gone wrong?I had zero problems installing my software,so I'm stumped about why games won't run.I also updated XP's files with windows update. Also if it helps,my drives are set up as:
C: boot partition
D:boot backup
E:games partition
F:non game programs
G😛artion for MP3's,game demos,etc.

I hope someone can help.(and sorry the post is so long.)

😕
i hear you about the compatibility problems man. But S0me1x is right, do a clean install. Upgrading from 98 -> XP is dangerous. Your basically installing a new generation of drivers and software patches onto your system.

😀
An update:
I dl and ran wpcredit according to instrucitions, and voila,my games work now.Every game has worked flawlessly.I guess I won't be disappointed I made the switch to Win XP.Now if you'll excuse me,I'm off to "test" my games some more. Thanks for the ideas.
