I don't remember ever having fireworks at any base I served at from 1978 to 1990. There were always fireworks displays in the surrounding cities (Norfolk, Va Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Charleston, North Chicago, Boston.............)

Base Brass usually sits on a float in the local parade, but that's about it.

I've been living in, on, and around Naval bases from 1989-current and the only ones who did *anything* were the overseas bases. (cause...you know...foreign countries don't have a holiday on the 4th.)

The one we witnessed in Sicily was the very definition of "Cheeze-Ball".

Yes, this is a non-issue. Many military personnel are also taxpayers (property/local) in the cities/towns surrounding the base and in most cases these tax monies are used to put on fireworks displays. In the event that possibly the surrounding community was too small to afford such a display I could see the base helping with the funding of a fireworks display. I do believe that overseas bases would set aside funding for a fireworks display to allow service personnel to celebrate the 4th.

Now he saying this is an issue because more conservatives serve in the military so this is political payback. This also makes no sense and shows that incorruptible is nothing more than a hack. If he can't get you to believe the facts, lay on the emotional BS so thick that it hopefully garners support from the non-thinking.
