No expand arrow on the "Downloads" folder under "Favorites" in Windows 7?

Is there any way to have an expand arrow in the Downloads folder (or any folder that has multiple subfolders I guess) that get placed in the "Favorites" section of Windows 7?

I often keep quite a few things in the Download folder and it really is a pain to not have an expand arrow like when you are browsing in the "Computer" section.

In Internet Explorer 6,7, & 8, you will get expansion arrows if you use the menu bar (Text) on top - favorites then have expansion arrows. That does not happen the same way with the "Star" Favorites in the Command bar. Use the Menu Bar. (View - Toolbars - Menu Bar)

In the Command Bar ("Star" Favorites) a blue arrow will pop up as you hover on a folder if it has sub items. Click on it and the subs will appear.

Ahhh so! I find that odd - I don't recall ever accessing Favorites in Explorer. They are all web sites - logically they involve the Internet. But - Windows 7 also lists them right off the Start Orb, and in that instance, they do include sub folder arrows when appropriate;

OK - I tried Explorer in W7, and there are no arrows in the left pane, but clicking on any Favorites folder pops up the contents in the right pane as shown here.

I don't think you can have subfolders under those links, because they are just shortcut files. You can see them under c:\users\username\links.
