No DVD burner available on the Dell 710m?

The 710m has always been availble with the DVD+-RW drive. But now, when I configure one through either Home or Small Business channels, the only optical option is a combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW.

Anyone have any idea why?
 
i had a 700m and i went through DVD-+RW's like water. I think i had 2 rma'd before i sold that laptop. Maybe there was an issue?

Good to know. Maybe I will buy an aftermarket drive and install it.
 
i have seen some on e-bay for around $75. Most of the newer inspiron line seem to share the same optical drive form factor. let me know if you find out different.

I gave up on thr 710m in favor of the new XPS M1210. Has all the bells and whistles I was looking for in the small form factor.
