I had to go to work, so couldn't check the things mentioned. I will get back at it starting wednesday (out of town :/).

If the PCI-E plug isn't the problem, try reseating your GPU or moving your GPU to the second PCI-E slot. With the amount of dust in the case it's possible you have dust on the PCI-E contacts preventing a proper connection.
