I was looking to build a computer for my grand-daughter using a M4A88T-M Motherboard (it has onboard graphics with Radeon 4250) and the specs for this board says "no Directx 11 support". However I was going to replace the integrated graphics with an HD5770 card. If I run Windows 7 with the upgraded card will she be able to take advantage of Directx11?

Thanks!

Yes, they are only talking about using the built-in graphics, not about any cards that you add yourself.

Dave summed up. Just a side note, after you install the video card go into the BIOS for the motherboard and turn off the integrated graphics and set the graphics output to be PCIe (rather than onboard). And make sure you install the 5770 drivers from the ATI website.

Maybe see if the grand-daughter is into gaming before rushing out and buying an add-in card??

The embedded graphics on those boards is perfectly fine to run Aero desktop, any 1080p video, etc.

Onboard video has really come a long ways from how it used to be in the past.
