I am using PSTN with a 56K V90 modem (Intel MD566X chipset). My phone line has two wall sockets, one at my room (connected to the modem) and one in another room (connected to a normal telephone).
The first time I turn on my modem and dial into Internet, it's okay. After disconnecting it (right click on terminals icon on taskbar and choose "disconnect") and want to connect into Internet for second time (with modem's power still on), however, "no dial tone" message appears, although I very sure no one is using the line.
My "solution" is, I unplug the phone cable from wall socket, then plug it back, and redial again, and it works. Another "solution" is, turn the modem off and on again. This is weird.
Anyone know what caused this problem? Any solution to get the modem/line back to normal (that is, can dial as many time as I like without unplug the phone cable)?
CPU: Pentium MMX 200MHz
OS: Windows ME
