i was told by a CompUSA manager today that there won't be
an ad this weekend due to the superbowl...also he said that
there would be only 2 in february...

on a different note i was looking at the speakers (i am going
to buy a Monsoon MM-700 set) that are priced at 149 there...the
box had been opened and i asked the manager if i could get an
open box discount...he said he'd look into it, and came back with
a reduction of 25 dollars (my dollar sign and right arrow don't
work)....this just for asking about a box that had the seal broken.

i told him i was looking for a little more as that makes the price
only barely comparable with what i can do online...the key here is
that don't be afraid to ask...

i got refunded the difference in a memory price change with crucial,
i got 5 free replacement memorex cdrs because they arrived with
a couple cracked cases ('no keep the others with our compliments, and
we will remove the 5 dollars from your bill')

the key phrases being...that's unacceptable, could i speak to your
manager?...or that's unfortunate we can't come to an agreement on
this....you are the customer and you are king...rule your kingdom...

alrite, don't nobody bump this up--cmon and lets stick together and let it fall off so nobody gets embarassed.
dude, it's only my opinion, but can you change your thread a little so it looks like you're talking about a hot deal instead of brag and moan? friendly suggestion :)

dear uncle...

not trying to brag...just educate any folks who
don't know a little questioning can create a hot
deal out of thin air...

well, I felt it was informative. That was a pretty good deal u got there. I might have just accepted the $25. But seeing as how u pushed for more and got more, u have put a wrinkle in my brain. ;)

thanx for the tip. although, I will agree with the other guy (uncle???), your title IS sorta misleading.

What is everyone a newbie here? As long as I can remember, CompUSA has always been every other week... it is only around holidays that they do special extra sales.

...encourages people to go into stores like compusa, and open boxes and rip things apart, hoping to get a little discount...at least that's what two of my cousins said they were going to do...

Buddy of mine tells me that compusa was bought out by a multinational a while back. Since then the bargains have slowed to a trickle.

gdog3000, OT, but I have a question:
when you are buying a product at the b&m store and they scan the bar code, do they also scan any other bar codes on the package, ie any serial number bar codes or the code (if there is one) on the plastic anti-theft gadget?

they scan the upc, deactivate the anti theft magent (no code to my knowledge), and if it is a computer, monitor , printer or scanner they enter the serial number into the computer

So could you return a CDRW you just received from them via ups--unopened--to the b&m store where you purchased identical product 1 week prior (return with the b&m receipt--same product, unopened)?
