I have an MS Office Small Business Upgrade CD. From this CD, I was able to load Word, Excel, and Publisher to a new computer which did not contain a prior version of any of these applications. It only looks for a prior version if the CDKEY is entered prior to setup. If you simply click Next and do not enter the CDKEY, it installs just fine.
Am I missing something here? Did Microsoft screw up? It appears that there is no reason to buy the full version when the upgrade version will install just fine. What's the deal?
