Re: Illegal Copies and No-CD cracks

Most Illegal copies come already cracked or with Cracks, so those hunting for No-CDs are rarely doing it for Warez or other Illegal purposes.

It's all illegal.

Anyway I highly doubt your claim. It doesn't account for friends loaning cds out and lan parties.

It's not the "work" that's the primary concern here. Ask anyone who's ever wanted a NO CD fix. It's the mental anguish of having to do it each time. Fix it once and be done with it. No more mental anguish. Doesn't matter how long it takes me to fix it if I foresee it to be a problem for a while longer.

Have you ever had a problem for work that you wanted to fix at the root ? If not, then you wouldn't understand.

And "most likely illegal" means nothing. That's like saying I may or may not be lying.

Anyone I know who has ever wanted a no cd fix wanted it so they could install a game illegally.

If you are at work and always want to fix a problem at its root, no matter how much time or money it's going to cost, regardless of how little money or time it saves, then I hope you don't have any power to make decisions.
Well it must be the case then if everyone YOU know in YOUR world does things one way.

And I never mentioned money. This is only time and effort we're talking about. It costs us nothing. Don't put words in my mouth. I used "work" as an example of coming across problems and wanting to desperately fix them and you should be smart enough to realize that. Twisting words to fit your own agenda belongs in P&N.

The retail version, v1.WhateverItComesAtFromTheFreakin'Store

Discussion of methods to circumvent copy protection that don't fall under fair use is grounds for a ban here - and not to jump to a conclusion, but a good 95% of "crack requests" are for the l33t juAr3z version of the game.

Hey, don't jump on me. I don't even know what l33t juAr3z is. The games are real, but I just get freakin tired of swapping CD's just to play a different game. Right now I'm playing BF 1942, Madden, NFS2, FarCry, and Law & Order. Swapping CD's sucks and I'm just wondering if anyone has found a no-cd crack for either of the 2 games I originally listed. I believe that is perfectly legal, yes?

Wait a second, you are playing the Law & Order game...?

I feel sad for you. :p

I got it for my wife, then I started to play it myself. Not the best game, but I've definitely wasted my time on worse games.
But thank you for feeling sorry for me. I need all of that I can get. :)

It's crazy how each of us decides when we're interested in the law and when we're not.

A lot of things are illegal. Whether or not no-cd cracks are legal doesn't interest me a bit. When I download a crack, I know I own the game and my conscience is clear.

It's crazy what you can find a crack for. You can find cracks for most of my daughter's Nancy Drew games. I'm not sure Nancy Drew is the sort of thing you find at these LAN parties I read so much about.

HL2 will be the first that I don't download a crack for. Just not interested.

Whatever.
