No-CD for Diablo II

Before the flames start: I have a retail copy of Diablo Battlechest that I bought yesterday to play on my laptop. Needless to say, I don't want to have to keep the LOD cd with me wherever I go in order to play. I found the "game.exe" file is supposed to work, but I have no idea WTH to do with it. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thanks. 🙂

GameCopyWorld ... will tell you everything you need to know. You'll basically end up DLing the NO-CD then simply replacing the original game.exe with a custom game.exe. I would recommend backing up the original first tho.

I've tried that, but it always says it's a non valid Win32 program. 🙁

Have you updated LoD to the correct version?

LoD when it was released was 1.07 I believe and now they are up to 1.10. The No-CD file may be for 1.10 and you are patching 1.07.

Id try that. Only thing I can think of at the moment. Havent played it since hackers ruined 1.09d and Blizzard ruined the game with 1.10.

you need the no cdloader made by onlyer. Check blizzhackers.com general forums under downloads. also you need to copy over a few of the mpq files from the cd to your diablo2 installation dir. 🙂 I used to be hooked on that blasted game. Stopped playing about 6 months ago. But I still have chars and chars full of top notch items

Yeah, I think it's the first listing under Diablo 2 at GCW (Bnet Loader for LOD v1.10).

just FYI, I and other have been benned for short periods for posting links to GCW, so i would watch it if i were you

I couldn't find a working one anywhere for the latest classic patch (never bought LoD), so I just use daemon tools for D2.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread .. just load up D2:LOD normally, connect to B.Net so it patches to 1.10 .. the newest version. Then just search for Diablo II Loader by Onlyer, it works. I use it.

You're kidding? I was under the impression that there's nothing illegal about using NO-CD loaders if you do, in fact, own the game. Wow, I suppose it's the same logic used by those who say guns kill people ... Thanks, though. 🙂

You could also try and use Daemon tools and image a copy of the cd onto your hddisk? I do use the no cd loader and it does work, but there is a trick to using it.

Seems like No-CD cracks are a laptop owner's best friend. 🙂

Desktop too! I HATE having to go through my CD binder just to find the CD I want only to play a game for 5 mins then switch to something else and repeat the process .. doing this will only cause the inevitable scratching of the CDs.. to hell with that.

CD-hunting sucks, glad I don't have to do it, ever 😉 CD images do take up space though, so I try not to do it that way unless the CD's data is actually needed and there's no other way.
