I think for a lot of people, the album where you "discovered" a band tends to be your favorite, even if it might not technically be the best album that band has. That seems to be the case for Rush fans, at least it is for the few that I know.

It varies I guess, when I was in high school in the 70's I used to go to sleep every night with a quadrophonic 8-track setup on low volume 😛

A Farewell to Kings, Pink Floyds Animals, or Robin Trowers Bridge of Sighs were the usual then, just for relaxing and going to sleep.

that is genuinely one of my top 10 albums ever and i envy you THIS MUCH.

Yet another punk rock group from back in the day with a wicked sense of humor. Kick ass live shows. I had a several close punk rock musician friends, so even though this wasn't my main music, the live concerts were always fun.

Just as KT thinks my musical taste is fogey baloney, I just don't "get" Sinatra's fame and preeminence. When asked, the most musical thing people say is his "phrasing." Can some actual musician enlighten me about this?

I like Sinatra. I don't think he was extraordinary. It just sounds good to me. I also like Bobby Darin's crooner phase.

I listen to it straight through about once a Summer. Still amazing. Yesterday I was listening to this straight through:

and I was thinking that it ought to be presented as a guide for young women to the understanding of young men.
