I am a beginner, but I have built a system before and it worked.
After assembling a new system, I have no beep and no boot and I get no video output. The fans turn, and there is a board LED that glows. Vendor replaced Gigbyte KT 266a MB when I called to ask, so now I wonder about the new AMD T-bird 1.4G 266? Could it be the Crucial DDRAM?

Remove the motherboard from the case and place it on a piece of cardboard or other non-conductive material. Install vid card, 1 stick of memory, processor with HSF and hard drive. Fire it up. If it works then the board is probably shorting out in the case. Check for extra standoffs that might be shorting on the bottom of the board.

Let us know.

Yes, it could be the RAM...I see more people go through uneccesary teardowns...
If you have any other ram, try that first.
Also-make sure that vid-card is seated!

Reseat RAM several times (5). Make sure it's seated all the way in the slot and in the correct position. My boss got a new made to order PC several months ago. Did the same thing yours did. I had him reseat RAM several times then it would start booting then beep with memory error. RAM was in slot 2 so I had him move it to slot 1 (even thought his MB manual said RAM could be in either slot 1 or 2). Booted up like a champ after that.

Oh, make sure you're not grounding the motherboard out. If the standoffs are metal then check to make sure they are in the right location. Just fixed an ECS K7S5A setup for a friend at work. He had a brass standoff in the wrong place and it was grounding MB out.
