No BOOT, no BIOS, Computer and components all turn on

I tried one more time, and now suddenly it is all working again. Maybe the CMOS reset worked??

UPDATE: It is just no BIOS. Why is there no BIOS? It shows a blank screen until the Windows login screen shows up. Doesn't even show the "loading windows" screen.

could be psu, or a short, or poorly seated component , among other things..

I would first try a different power outlet.. and if you are using a UPS, try bypassing that as well..

if that's ok.. first rule out the case switch.. and bypass the switch by shorting out the 2 terminals on the motherboard header where the case power switch connects..

when you pull the cover off the case and hit the power. do the fans spin at all ... or does anything light up for even a few seconds.. ?

Try pulling and reseating all of the components, like memory sticks, graphics card, etc... and disconnect all other connections into the board to rule those out (USB ports, HDD drives, etc.)

If all else fails, try pulling the board out of the case, and just try posting with the graphics card, psu, a stick of memory and the processor/fan connected to rule out a short between the board and the case..

good luck
Mike

p.s... if all of those come up empty... then there is a decent chance you have a defective power supply.. but no guarantees... If you could get your hands on one from another pc.. just to test.. that would save you a lot of aggravation

nothing is wrong with my hardware.
nothing is wrong with my power supply
nothing is wrong with my hard drives
nothing is wrong with my motherboard
nothing is wrong with my screens

this is a software issue.

well duh i did not figure it out.

Someone help please thanks

I guess your last POST full of 'nothing is wrong ...' and 'this is ...' led me to that conclusion.

Sounds like a video connection issue. What type of cable are you using, and is it the same as your monitor is set to use? I would check that first.

ok now i did figure it out.

flashed BIOS to latest version, still same issue.

took out ram, put ram back in, reset CMOS for 10 seconds, still same issue.

then i put only one monitor, not the samsung monitor, into other graphics card, then the screen displayed post and boot and everything. Obviously everything was working fine, it just wasn't displaying on the screen until the login screen.

It was a software issue, and luckily I was able to solve it by merely using a different monitor in the other graphics card port.

Glad you could change the monitor and the port to fix your software issue.

Seriously though, it sounds like the first monitor was not set to use the port you were using for your monitor. Windows was set to look at that connection, which is why it came up after startup.

It was a software issue, because there was nothing wrong with either monitor OR port. After moving to the other for just that one boot, then I just changed it back and everything works as before.

By using different monitor and port, it basically reset the software which was having an issue. Then just changed everything back using original monitor in original port and it was just like before again, everything working as expected.

good job in editing a previous post after i already solved it myself and adding the answer that i said in a later post to fraudulently make it look like you gave a good answer, when in truth all you did is spam the thread until after I gave the answer proving you wrong that it was not a hardware issue.

Um, no. Didn't catch your posts until after the edit, buddy,

without looking at the e-peen fight above, I would automatically think this is two separate issues.

One "Why is there no BIOS" is the BIOS is set to not show upon startup, it's a BIOS config that can be set on my own motherboards.

Second "It shows a blank screen until the Windows login screen shows up" is an option in your MSCONFIG 'boot' options. Type MSCONFIG in the 'search programs and files' bar. Once the little box shows, click on the 'boot' tab and ensure 'no GUI boot' is not checked.

My .02, in case it truly hasn't been resolved.

No. Actually, there was a bios. it was just not displaying on the screen.
Anyway it is fixed now.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

The issue seemed a lot worse than it was.

Hopefully the 'e-peen' fight has been resolved. It was a communication issue on my part. Is the BIOS config issue you are talking about is the logo. If you turn off the logo (which I normally do) you will see devices load step by step.

The OP says this is resolved, so I am fine leaving it at that.

OP, by the way, it was not my intention to tick you off. Sorry if I did. I tried to send you a message, but it said your account could not send or receive them.

Actually there's a different option on my mobo (Biostar) that allows you to disable visually seeing the ram count, usb drives, etc that is shown during bootup. I cant recall what it was called though.
