I just upgraded from an old alienware 500w power supply, to a Tuniq Ripper 1000w

upon installing, I now get no beep, no video, everything is spinning away though just fine...but no boot...I even have the green light on the mobo on, im just getting no feedback at all

i reset ram, cmos, vid card, etc.

Put the old psu back in, now im down to no boot on THAT one as well, im getting scared here, I DID hook up the new psu wrong at first (noob mistake), is it possible I could have fried it? (mobo is an Asus A8n-e)

Kind of a tough situation you've got there. What was the reason for the PSU upgrade at the outset?

The wiring was beginning to get frayed on a few of them, and i was having hard drives / fans start to cut out randomly, causing alot of BSOD's (or at least thats what i thought was causing it)

but i tested the shit out of this yesterday, cleared cmos, brought out the mobo on the table, booted with cpu/ram/vid card only, nothing...

went ahead and bought a new cpu/ram/mobo from newegg, it was long overdue anyway

1. Most of the time people forget the 4 pin CPU Power connector located to the left of the CPU on the mobo.

2. Make sure all the grounding screws are in good.

as previous poster suggested.. most likely the 4 pin cpu connector... If that is in.. try removing and reseating the 20/24 pin main connector to the board.. ensuring its seated correctly without applying too much pressure...

If still no go.. then you need to break it down, and remove some variables.. .I would disconnect the power feeds into all of your disks, drives, etc.. and only have the main 20/24 connector and the 4 pin CPU connector hooked up.. along with the PCIE feed into your video/graphics card if it has one... Then see if it posts, and if so, its probably just a poor connection...

If not. .then remove/reseat the graphics card.. and maybe try reseating the memory sticks as well...

If none of these work .. then as suggested.. you may have a short between the board and case, in which case you'll want to remove the board from the case and sit it on a non-conductive surface ... and see if it posts outside of the case...

good luck ...
