no battery indicator in xp on laptop

Hey guys, im on my inspiron 9300 and the battery indicator like disappeared. I cant get it back, and i understand that when running on battery it should always be there. please help me!

Have you looked in Control Panel/Power Options?

yep. everything should be fine but its not. according to windows help, the battery indicator should be there no matter what if its running on battery.

ummmm................ what? no. the indicator was there before but now its gone.

hmmmm well it randomly came back, then i restarted, and now its GONE AGAIN!!!

Just to cover the basics, do you have "Hide inactive icons" enabled? If so, is the indicator being hidden?

i figured it out with someone else's help on here. it was conflicting with the upnp icon in windows. very weird.
