No backing out of the stingray now..... (Since I have it!)

As of tonight, my other car is gone. This is going to be a difficult two or three months with only the sensible commuter....

I was reading the manual and something jumped out at me. They really trust their software. They actually tell you, when you have the specific handling modes on, to just press the accelerator to the floor while leaving a turn and let it handle power management exiting the turn by itself.. I read that in a review and thought it was bologna. We'll have to see how well it works an if it does what it does by killing power too much or actually does a good job of it.

IMO, careful throttle application and opposite lock is part of the driving experience! :D

With regards to traction control, my experience is that yes it helped me turn in faster lap times when first starting out. But it prevented me from inducing throttle rotation when i needed it, which is pretty annoying. And you can still fuck up by lifting, lol

can't wait to see it, that car looks awesome

Man, you go through cars quick.

I'm looking at picking up a stingray too, but may hold off to see what GM has up their sleeve for the Z06. We'll see.

It can be turned off. I'll have to see how well it works. And yes, I have the same concerns that you do in that area.

I'm on my 4th car purchase in a year. One was an additional vehicle, but 3 were the same purpose vehicles ;)

This will be my 4th since 2011, and my 3rd in the last 365 days (though the vette may get delivered after the 1 year mark).

One is a commuter car.

It's a great way to wind up with your car wrapped around a tree too.

Congrats on the ride Ferzerp. I think the new Corvette is a huge win for Chevrolet.

The first of my 4 car purchases was in November / December last year (It was either the very end of Nov or beg of Dec).

My last of the 4 was end of July. So really about 8mos :-D

And now I'm waiting for the new Mustang... if it ends up being a flop I'll look at a Corvette probably.

I am assuming he meant at a track. Even a novice like me has to utilize throttle steer (not to be confused with entering a slide) on some parts or just go far too slow. I'm explicitly talking about those track bits that getting on the throttle a little shifts the weight properly and actually keeps the turning traction higher, not reduces it.

Thanks. The wait is already agonizing..... My hope is it is here by thanksgiving.

He probably was, but still there is no shortage of youtube vids of people powersliding off the road in Corvettes on public roads either. :D

Post up pics and impressions when you get it. What color are you getting?

It will be the metallic green color (the only green they have) with a black, sueded interior. I didn't go with the perforated because I'd had the perforated leathers to stretch on seats before.

3LT package (all the interior goodies), Z51 (all the performance goodies), magnetic ride control, and performance exhaust.

Green's bad luck, people shoot at you. :)

Sounds really nice, although I don't think you'll have it long enough for the perforated leather to stretch.

i already do this in my ford f150. apparently they had this same innovation in 2007! or else the drive by wire really sucks, lags out and doesnt give it a chance to break the back end out on any given turn... i really dislike the performance of that truck

tanner faust on top gear raced the new stingray on the streets of Detroit using the race mode. Tanner was hard pressed to do better in manual mode.

Got word that my car is in the order status that indicates it is being, or soon will be built (the next status code indicates that it is built).

When I ordered my Mustang in late 2004, the dealer provided me with an order number of which I was able to use a phone number (provided by someone who works for Ford on the Mustang forums) and call and get real time status updates as to where my car was. Sometimes I had to pretend I was a salesperson at the dealership.

GM customer service will look up the status of a sold order for the customer (my name is associated with the order), and there are various GM reps on forums that will give out info.
