No audio device in sounds section.

Fresh install of xp w/sp2, soyo kt880 mobo (v2.0)
Tried drivers from soyo website, then the realtek 4.06 drivers, neither worked
Yes, onboard audio is enabled in bios

Getting system beeps and things, just nothing from media player.
No sound icon on lower bar.
Device manager shows the realtek working
Under hardware section of Sounds, the Realtek 97 Aduio for Via Controller, Audio, MIDI and Mixer devices are all enabled.

Any suggestions? Thanks, Max

Try uninstalling all drivers if you can. Had this exact issue because of using the wrong drivers. Look into the manual that came with the mobo and make sure that you get the driver directly off the cd that came with it. Another thing is make sure the connection you are using from the case to the audio output is the correct one. Sometimes windows will call the onboard audio as something other than what it is. Hope this helps

Cool, thanks for the help. If this doesnt work ill just pick up one of those usb sound things off ebay
