No ads for subscribers on www.anandtech.com?

If someone subscribes to Anandtech forums they don't see ads on the forums. Why do they still have to see ads on the main website? It might also help increase revenues as people who only visit the main site will be somewhat inclined to subscribe (few, but still some), and will also be one more straw to encourage forum users to subscribe. I'm not sure what kind of programming issues this will present to Zuni, but I'm sure it's possible.

Forums require you to log in to partcipate.

The main anandtech site does not.

You CAN login to the main site however. If nothing else a special login dialog for just subscribers wouldn't be too hard. They still might be able to spin it off that "My.anandtech.com" thing.

I use the add links on the front page all the time. I am too lazy to bookmark Mushkin amoung others, so I just hit AT, then find the mushkin / ect link 😛

I go elsewhere for my info/reviews now.

wow :Q

i personally love the main site even though some of the ads are fVcking huge. it looks great, its easy to read and the quality of articles is inspiring. i haven't posted on the forums in ages, when i used to all the time. i find the main site brings me back, not the forums.

you're clueless, the ads are indicative of the success of the site and the respect for anandtech in the community. Let's be real, they've got to have some revenue stream to do what they do.

Clueless? I don't think so, and I am involved in getting them a nice advertising deal as well. Gaudy, flashy chingrish mobo manufacturer ads blinking while I'm tring to read makes me think the people that designed the banners are the ones that are indeed clueless.

I have no problem with them making money, I'm a subscriber, but it doesn't mean I have to like their choice of banners/ads they run.

I hafta agree on SS's last point, flashing banners is one of the most annoying things I've ever seen on the net.

The other extremely annoying thing is popups, but Opera takes care of that part for me 😉
