I think merely a passing familiarity with the Metal Gear Solid series would be enough to LOL @ this. Say, having just seen the TV spots for it would probably be enough, combined with a basic understanding of how these kind of games run.

Hmmm...I know it's a game but not much beyond that. Am I right to assume the basic premises behind the video are that there are crabs in the game and that said crabs are easy to kill?

It wasn't remotely funny until he actually tried to kill the crab. The only funny part was after the crab's first string of attacks, it backs off and sits there with its claws up in the air... swift move right... swift move left... But that was the only funny thing about it.
