Well, I dont have the energy to search for all my similar rants, but.....

Why, on a computer enthusiast site, do people post about ANYTHING that isnt computer related?
Why do we have a Politics & News section?
Why do we have an Off Topic section?
We just do.

Its probably to help keep the traffic up so AT can increase ad revenue. Which (I have been told) is one of the reasons folks are allowed to act like asses in the Video section. So long as they keep visiting, no one cares.

Because many people here are like-minded. It doesn't help to get advice from dr. phil or gael garcia bernal on how to pick up chicks. Other geeks who share similar interests, problems, etc. are more likely to give at least mildly good advice, in between the 75 requests for pics and shens declarations. And sexual comments.

Despite the high amount of utter losers here, there are normal folk too who DO do things in the real world, i.e. go outside and date and socialize. You'd be surprised how much good advice you can actually get (mixed in with all the awful advice from 40-year-old virgins and 13-year-olds).
