My drivers license expired so its the fault of illegal aliens - wah!

Go to another store or ask an illegal alien to buy it for you.

exactly. i just let natural selection take its course.

Yea, but nanny laws are getting in the way of that, making life harder for the rest of us.

I was ID'ed coming out of Michaels (a hobby store) for buying those little testors paint jars because they didn't want kids sniffing them. Of course, I also had a model kit, modeling plaster, paint brushes and a bunch of other stuff. The cashier laughed and didn't bother readin the DL, but still, the fact that the law is in the place at all is rediculous. What would have happened 4 years ago when I was under 18 and wanted to paint my plane or something? I had to go pay a bum or bug my parents.

I went into our local chemist/pharmacy, before I was aged 18 (legal drinking age), and bought some rubbing alcohol.
They didn't seem too bothered (this was ~2 years ago).
Said it was for my PC and walked out with it.
UK FTW!

How did you take an anti-drug law and twist it to somehow relate to immigration? Oh that's right, you were just trying to make your title more inflamatory. Really you CAN buy your sick child medicine with a valid driver's license, and it has nothing to do with illegal immigrants. Keep that ****** in P&N.

No I wouldn't. I'd be mad at myself for being a horrible parent.

Quit making excuses for the government to be responsible for YOUR fvcking actions. Douche bag

we can get rubbing alcohol at any age here too.
its one of those, drinking it to get drunk is not smart because it is made toxic on purpose to, well, you get really sick or die by consuming too much of it.

and my stance on this whole issue? legalize yourself. i might get flamed for this, but i just dont feel that people who are here illegally and aren't making an efforts to legalize themselves don't have room to complain. how you can get all those other things is beyond me, when you don't have proof you are legalized. i don't know the whole process to becoming a legal immigrant, so i might just be ignorant on that front, but it seems that you either have had trouble becoming legal or haven't even tried.

I tried it, even taking a double dose wasn't as effective as a single dose of genuine Sudafed.

If not Sudafed they will use something else... Last week 2 people OD'd after huffing freon out of an AC Unit.. You can't stop stupidity...

Exactly, making drugs illegal doesn't stop people from doing them. I don't think I've ever met someone that doesn't use simply because it's illegal

I think the logic is that we have to make them illegal because 1) it does stop some people at least from doing them, though maybe not those who would use them hardcore anyway and 2) you can't condone their use for political reasons i guess.

It sucks that you couldn't get your medicine, but it's been in the news for months that drug stores were moving to a ticket system style thing, and your drivers liscense was expired. Sucks, all I had to do was show my DL and they let me buy my stuff, no paperwork, background whatever.

Heard on FOX News this morning that there are 7 states in the US that allow illegals to obtain driver's licenses. Turns out that I live in one of them! What the heck? Every freaking time I've had to go to the Motor Vehicles office, I end up having to show every piece of legal documentation that I have and waiting half the day. Plus, I WAS BORN HERE...never even been outside of the US!

The 7 states that allow this are: Maryland, North Carolina, Hawaii, Michigan(?)...oh darn, I can't find the rest and a search on Fox News results in nothing. Sorry. I will edit this post if I can find out.

Why do you have an expired license? They usually send you a renewal a few months before it expires, no?

People sniff glue and huff freon...
And you're telling me that there aren't gonna be people who buy that kind of thing for the alcohol content, even though it is poisonous?

Right. You know you can 'OD' on one dose of bleach, but I don't need an ID to buy that.

Not exactly what I was looking for...but I did find this in my search on Google:

In the following states legal residence is not required to apply for a driver's license: Alaska, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. In addition, states that have verification loopholes are: the District of Columbia, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Tennessee.

Sounds like you should be more responsible and get your license renewed on time. If you want illegal immigrants to be deported because they are "breaking the law" then you goddamn better be following it yourself. And, apparently, that means DRIVING WITH A VALID LICENSE *and* presenting said license when buying products containing pseudoephedrine. Hypocrite.

Driving without a valid license. It is illegal. :|:|:|:|:|:|

Confused ...

WTF Does Illegal immigration have to do with your cold medicine?

Are you trying to link the stupidity of Nanny Laws with the Stupidity of the current immigration laws?
Like, with Symbolism. Immigrants come in for a better life, the legal system is so screwed up that they have to enter illegally. The legal system to buy OTC cold medicine is also screwwed up, so in order to get it, you have to get it illegally?

Oops, did I just put words into your mouth.

Did you in fact mean to complain about illegal immigrants because "they are breaking the law" and it's not fair because they should come legally (which costs money, and takes a long time, or often requires "luck" since they use a lottery system.)

I give your rant 0 out of 10.

I'm not sure how or why you are drawing a parallel between the inability of you to purchase pseudoephedrine based drugs because of your expired drivers license and illegal immigration.

It's your fault you didn't pay attention and renew your drivers license in time. There is no one you can blame for that but you.

This is a straight up flame bait thread.

OP, the two issues aren't related. I feel for you on the drug issue, but how are you possibly connecting that to immigration?

I work behind the pharmacy and DO YOU THINK WE LIKE TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE DOWN ALL YOUR INFO? No!!!!!!!!!!!!....SO CUT US SOME SLACK. WE HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAW LIKE EVERYONE ELSE....SO YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ASS DOWN TO THE DRIVER'S LICENSE DEPARTMENT AND RENEW IT.

BTW...can't get more than 10grams of pseudo in a month for WA resident. 1 box of pseudo with 24 tabs equals 0.72gram....

The problem is the drivers license is not valid since you didn't renew it. You should have known by either having notices sent in the mail or using your eye balls to read the expiration date on the card. Many consider it an invalid form of identification once it expires. Your drivers license is the primary form of identification in the United States, so even if you don't drive, the DMV (or whatever your state has) can still issue you an ID card. If you do drive and need a drivers license then.... :|
