Pretty sure another member posted that he was getting a decent steady 80fps at 10x7 w/ all the goodies on a 6800nu.

I would wait a little until someone with like systems specs reports a similar issue.

I'm running a A64 3000 at 2.2
1 gig 400 at cas2
6800gt

But I refuse to pay for a game until I can hold the box.

Hrmm maybe you have a bad card, becuase i am getting like 100 to 110 fps in cs:s with my eVGA 6800GT. I have medium details, aa off and af 2x. I lowered the details becaues i like to keep my fps over 100. But will the details on high and aa at 4x and af at 6x i was getting a nice 65 to 70 fps. So i dont know what is wrong with your rig. My resolutions are at 12x10

With teh same settings that i am running right now, i was only getting 65 to 70 average i couldnt get any higer. But i am gettnig 100 to 110 wiht my 6800GT. That is one reason why i am returned teh x800 and got the 6800GT

rarely i dont konw my performance in those types of servers. I play mostly 24 person max servers. I hate those 40 people servers its so pointless random poepel firing and shit. You dont know what is goign on half the time

Hrmm oh ati always does better in games when it comes to using higher AF and AA settings. ATI has alwasy done better. But with settings at AF and AA at like 4 the performance between teh cards is basically teh same, and sometimes 6800GT pulls a head. I dont see a difference when i get to higher AF and AA i guess because i have an lcd. So i got the 6800GT because of the price per performance. The x800 was like 400 plus and i got my 6800GT for 350

Well Noob, just tried a 20 person server, 4aa 8af never below 50fps, sometimes as high as 150, normally between 70-100 fps, so I guess I am fine. Just have to drop rez in the madness of 20v20 🙂

Yeah that happens. You need a really fast cpu to keep up when there is alot of people in the server. Becuase there is alot to process when there are like more htan 40 peopel in a server

Ther eis something wrong With youre "Tweakd" comp
i own an evga 6800nu at 350/770
In cs Source aa6 af16 all settings on highest possible exept vsyns is off
i get anywhere from 45-160Fps i get more sometimes when i go next to a wall 200+ but that dosent count 🙂

My current system setup is in my sig, along with 1GB of Buffalo CH-5, 500W PSU, and whatever else. I'm able to keep around 70fps (using fraps as a tool) at 1600x1200, ALL details/shadows set to their highest, 4xAA and 8xAF. This is with higher player matches as well.

My GT works just fine, no ATI needed here.

ditto. Bumrush something is screwed up with your system.

Why? your just missing out on playing CS.

Sounds like you have a problem with your system, bios settings??? time to tweak.

Well, it seems like I solved part of the problem.. It seems like high choke on the servers can be partially responsible for creating vid lag.. I also play on some 40+ player servers and it doesn't really matter what type of computer you have, with all the physics and firefights, you are going to get some drops. My bad.
