Nlite'd XP Install is still taking up 14Gbs - what went wrong?

I'm on an HP Mini with XP SP3. I've used Nlite to remove almost everything I can think of, but of my 16Gb available, 14Gb is already taken up.

I've only installed:

XP SP3 with embedded HP drivers
Office 2007 Ultimate
Eset NOD32
Required updates, flash player, etc...

Anyone with good nlite skills can you offer some assistance?

Ideally I would like the most EXTREMELY simplified and light install possible.

I only need basic support for USB, printers, and don't even care for the XP theme (I'll use classic windows).

huh...14gb seems absolutely huge to me for XP. I seem to remember non nlite'd copies of XP being like 4gb....granted that was presp3, but...


who knows, maybe I'm wrong. havent used xp in years now.

Hibernation file?
Paging file?
Deleted uninstall files for all those updates (from c:\windows) ?
Turned on NTFS Compression for all non-essential files?

Generally speaking I'm not in favor of using nLite to rip out updates, as I feel that can cause problems down the road when SPs or other updates can't find critical files so thus don't update....be careful.
 
Dont forget to delete all the "$NtUninstallKB...$" from C:\Windows
Delete all the "KBxxxxxx.log" from C:\Windows
Turn off or set to minimum the System Restore
Clean out C:\Windows\Prefetch
Clean out C:\WIndows\Temp
Clean out C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temp

You can use Add\Remove to uninstall MSN Messenger, Outlook Express, wallpapers and some other stuff
 
lower the size of the recycle bin, it defaults to 10% of your HD space, make it 1% or turn it off if you don't need it.
