I am not sure for the mental health of NK allowing them out of their cage is a good thing. Can you imagine if you were brought up in that and somebody pulled the curtains away to reveal it was a sick cruel ruse?

Most would probably be happy to not be starving anymore.
But I can see it taking 30-40 years for the last vestiges of the old NK to be completely dismantled if a reunification were to happen.

While East Germany was not as bad off as NK; there are similarities which would allow a decent comparison on how long an integration would take.

East Germans were all too well aware of the outside world. Apparently, North Koreans are generally delusional and understand their great leader to have been an infallible god and themselves a bulwark against the e-vil USA which supported South Korea's attack upon them in 1950 (the reverse is true).
