Looks like base pay for a toll collector is $67K...wow!
it was 60k in the bay area for toll collectors 20 years ago! i just read today that the average city employee in san francisco makes 91k. no wonder this city has no money

Why don't I build a machine that does this job and only costs $1k total rather than $67k per year? Oh wait, someone has already done that. Enjoy paying your taxes to these union workers.

Let see stay in Tennessee and work at Volkswagen or Nissan... or work in a toll booth in new Jersey... mmmmkay.

But back to the OP... thinking about it I can see where they get this figure. My firend works for the state government. he gets a statement everyyear showing his total compensation... which is like $90,000. This is caculated by adding his salary, the value of the states contribution to his healthcare, his vacation leave balace, and sick leave balance.. which would only be paid to him if he were vested and retired. His actual takehome pay is not anywhere near that. But $320,000... must be a lot of perks.

It wasnt his salary.

His salary was around $70k, they reached the $321k figure by rolling in all benefits, bonuses, perks, and company bowling leagues, etc.

The math is not shown with regard to how they reached the figure, but i'm sure it is no where near that actual cost.

That's how I read it also, though they should've mentioned the actual salary with overtime and cash bonuses.

private sector, i don't give a shit.
public sector where my taxes dollars are going towards his paycheck, different story.

if it were a private sector job that would definitely be a minimum wage job like collecting money at mcdonalds and theyd need to hire illegal aliens to do this work
