OK, this has not been done in a while and I couldn't really find a thread like this in the archives, so lets hear what window manager or desktop environment you use on your *nix box.

I personally used to use fluxbox, then i started using Gnome2, today I switched to KDE3, but now I'm considering going to something else. I can never make up my mine ;)

Also, if you have a chance, post a shot of your *nix desktop :)

Happy Holidays! :D

waimea by a long shot :)

sawfish, openbox, and pwm are all decent runners up though (i've used all three quite a bit at certain points in the past)

kde/gnome are basically out of the question, flux/blackbox are just openbox but less flexible... gave window maker a short run back in the day but i didnt like it that much.

Depends, on boxes where I have a bit of power available, I prefer KDE, mostly since I like a bunch of the apps that come with it, and running those on their own from Fluxbox or some other WM doesn't really save me any resources.

When running on less powerful boxen I tend to use XFCE, I kinda like the CDE look, wierd I know :)

KDE3 on my RedHat 8 desktop (1.2GHz)

Laptop is running RedHat 7.3 with KDE 2.something (Celeron 600), but boy does it ever use up CPU and memory like a bad ass... looking into configuring a more lightweight and efficient but equally useful desktop environment for it.

either gnome or waimea... I use gnome on faster machines where I cant see the sped increase on using a lesser WM... maimea on slower ones.

Actually Openbox and Fluxbox are just blackbox with extra features.

I use Aqua.
