Huh? Are you saying drivers are going eat clutches or ???

It's not just clutches. Whole drive train gets stressed, even engine it self, when you can drop the clutch compared to "smoothed" care from "automatic".
In our family we had BMW which had the first (and only) real SMG and it got "destroyed" in less then 40kkm. Since then they started to do the "fast" automatic gearboxes.
Some years ago we had another BMW with 6 speed (at the time more expensive than automatic), less then 70kkm, everything was beyond warranty repair and car going into a limp mode even on a bit wilder downshift. Could go on. Project car 607, 280000km, all gone. Friend has 406 i believe, automatic, the car has like 400k and feels like new.
