Nissan Murano or BMW X3?

bigger than the X3, and better spec'd for the money
the murano is £35k here and its pretty much loaded.... CV Transmission, 3.5litre V6, sat nave, HID's, tints, leather, great sound system etc etc not sure if in america there are different trim levels, but in the UK at least we only get one choice.....the fully loaded choice
BMW on the other hand will rip you off
example, the one series..... its a small car bout the size of a focus hatchback with far less room inside. if you fully spec the 130i it will cost you £32k lol

I had an X3 as a loaner (2006).
I drive an X5.
X3 interior was plastic all over the place. Handling was amazing.
Murano is blah too.

instead of an X3 get a Toyota Rav4 a lot less money and the same effect.
people who buy:
a) BMW X3
b) The smaller/cheaper BMW 3 series'
c) Lexus IS class
d) Mercedes C class
are buying just the name and getting totally ripped off.

I used to think the same way too then I actually drove a basic 3-series and Mercedes C-class. Their interiors are amazing. At least the 3-series is.
I dont know about an IS
The Murano is no beauty queen but the new X3 makes me slowly go blind.

The IS350 is an excellent car. Find me a lower marquee 306hp sports sedan and get back to me. Incredible power, interior, nice clean style, highest reliability rating in the industry year after year(100k miles is like the break in period for lexuses), whats not to like?

Not necessarily true. A lot of times you can find maybe a better equipped car for the money, but you're not gonna find a vastly cheaper car that is similar in quality/comfort.
I dont see anything wrong with buying the lower end luxury automobiles. If there were no low end, there would be no high end and no flagship models. Some people would prefer the refined luxury of a Lexus over a Toyota. Nothing wrong with that.
new rav 4 is a nice car for sure, but we have a pretty top of the range rav4(£25k previous model) and well 2 weeks ago it had been in the garage for 2 weeks waiting on a part from japan
the interior isnt my thing either, and while it feels extrememly well put together the design still feels awkward the materials are quality but it just doesnt seem like it
the new rav4 has a nicer interior design, but i was looking at one in the show room the other day and for some reason i thought the doors and body were really tinny .... yeah its light but at the expense of feeling solid?
and i hate it when they leave ugly button cut-outs on the dash....all they do is serve to remind you how you werent rich enough to be able to afford all the extra buttons

I'd take a Corolla over an IS, a CRV over a X3, a civic over a BMW 3 series and a Geo Metro over a C230.
You're probably right. I'd pay the premium for a lexus ES over a fully loaded Camry just for the Lexus name. To some people, that matters. To others, like my father, they could care less. My father makes excellent money, but he'll never pay more than $20K for a car.

You rather drive wrong wheel drive small uninspiring cars with no power, some of which dont have a/c or are essentially civics in suv drag, all of which take at least 9-10 seconds to get to 60 and 1 of which in an collision with a chipmunk will be considered a total loss.
CRV=crap. Ever driven the new one?
Civic=even more crap. its overpriced for its size compared to its other competitiors, makes me blind even more so than an X3 and is just so immature.
Corolla=uninspired
Geo Metro. Way to be a hazard in normal traffic. You ever why metros are never seen on a highway? because they cant keep up. Also forget about driving in summer, no ac on the pos.
IS300=fun, nice to drive and most importantly RWD.
BMWs are pretentious and overpriced and driven by 22 year old trust fnd kids doing 90 in a 35.
C230 is a nice car why not a C230? its not badge engineered from anything, its not FWD, it has a nice liveable interior and it isnt nearly as immature as the civic.

edit: I drive an accord, it was the most reliable, economic car for my utility. I'm far from pretentious, I could care less what people think of me, I'm happy the way I am. judging by your tirade my comments hit a soft spot. if that is the truth then re-examine your personal level of pretnetion and try to move on from it, maybe you will become a better person.
