Nissan Maxima love?

Is the Altima better? Camrys and Accords do little for me.

Looking to buy a 250+ hp sedan outright. That puts my price ceiling in the 10 -15k range. I know Nissan brought out the 3.5 in 02, so an 02 -04 Maxima is easily in my price range. What else should I look at?

A V6 2003-2004 Honda Accord with leather is very nice, I think. Good engine too. But, since you don't want that, what about a Passat?

I do like the styling of the previous generation of Maximas, though. Although, paying for premium gas and relatively below average mileage is not really in its favor. Sorry, not much help 🙂

Take a good look at the BMW E39 540i, depending on the year, you ge 280-300hp and 290-320+ of twist. Timeless design and great performance.

Maxima will hands down be the best performer of the three you mentioned, you gotta love 255hp and IMO looks better too...

A better question might be: Does a Maxima foot the bill as a "poor man's Evo?" If not, what's better?

don't think the bimmer fits the bill.

But the Maxima w/ the VQ35 is a nice ride. I'd defnitely take it over accord/camry. Id put accord/camry/altima int he same class. Maxima is defnitely a step up!

my mom has a '00 maxima gle and my brother has a '98 maxima (se or sxe i think) and i love them to death.

very comfortable to drive.

i have to rant about maxima, the newer generation sucks so bad now.

i'm kind of liking the 00 to 03 styling. You can pick up an 02 or 03 with the 3.5 for fairly cheap too.....

I have an '00 Maxima and my fav would be the '03 Titanium Ed. Best bang for the buck, great build quality too and relatively reliable compared to the Germs.

I have a 2003 Maxima SE (I bought it new in 2003 and I have 62,000 miles on it currently). It's a good family hauler and reasonably sporty but it suffers from horrible torque steer and an awful suspension (stiff, noisy, and doesn't handle all that well). In your price range it's probably a bargain considering the competition but it isn't a sports car by any stretch of the imagination.
