Nissan launches GTR SpecV

so, is launch control still warranty voiding?

I'm sure they won't sell LC in the US and, to the extent it is sold and warranty-voiding outside the country, it will still be warranty-voiding on the Spec V.

As far as I know this won't be sold in the US at all.

The first sentence in the article is:

Nissan today revealed details for its new limited-production GT-R SpecV model, which goes on sale in Japan early next month and is expected to arrive in the U.S. later this year.

I believe the consensus when it was announced was that it would void the warranty the first time you start the engine...

They really should just slap on a beefier transmission and call it a day. It's nor like the people buying it is going to balk at the x thousands price diff.

Or the fact that the overwhelming majority of the people complaining about the issue are in no shape financially to even consider buying a GTR right now anyways.
Of the people who do buy, how many are going to be dumb enough to beat the piss out their 80k car habitually.
The thing is an effing rocket with or without launch control.
Just ask Clarkson about his neck.

Launch control, yeah like that will get used frequently.

I would think that is one of the reasons people bought it. It is a boy toy after all.

That's a lot of hype for a suspension upgrade.

this has happened since they have "nismo" or "V-spec" or whatever. aero parts + new seat trims + new gauges + exhaust + suspension = 3rd mortgage on house

May be a dumb question, but I can't remember reading this anywhere. This car is supposed to be the successor to the Skyline right? Kind of a revival? How come they didn't name it Skyline? Why is it just GTR?

The Skyline in Japan is the G35/G37 here now.

Ahhh...I see. So the GTR is really an all new car. I guess that makes sense since it was designed from the ground up to compete with the Porsche 911. So I guess the GTR is really Nissan's first supercar. I do like the looks of the Spec V. Adds a lot of sexy curves to the car.

As you mentioned, unlike all the past GT-Rs, this car wasn't based on the same frame as the normal Skylines.
