Well, I'm more interested in the interior upgrades. The Altima already has enough power.

The ONLY reason why they are bumping the HP is to having bragging rights over Honda who now has 240 HP with the '03 Accord.

Agreed. The Altima needs more interior refinement and quality, it's fine in the power department.

Side note: I was just looking at Nissan's site, they added a new bright yellow color for the SE-R called "Sunburst" and they nix'd that ugly ass "LAVA" interior from last year. Sweet.

We just bought a 2002 Altima 2.5 S. It's pretty nice. I like the styling and the 4 cyl engine's got some pep to it. The interior's a bit plasticy, but I like it. If we bought the 3.5 V6 and paid more for it, the cheaper interior would feel out of place. At the 2.5 price, it's a good value, IMO.

<<If they only would have made the Altima RWD.>>

Looks like Infiniti will be making cars (G35, G35 Coupe, FX45, etc...) based on Nissan's new RWD platform.

Huh? The Xterra uses a 3.3 liter V6 I think.

And that interior is still a farrrrrrrrr away from Audi

i like the exterior of the altimas but i really don't like the interior compared to altima equivalents (camry/accord). i'm actually thinking about getting a new car but i don't know what to get...

It does use the 3.3, but it's based on the same engine.

And I was referring to the exterior ;)

Xterra has some truck engine. It's not based on the VQ in the Altima or pathfinder. It's more like the engine in the Quest I think

This is true. Given the number and array of cars that Nissan is putting the wonderful VQ into (Maxima, Altima, G35 coupe and sedan, I35, Pathfinder, 350Z), one wonders why they don't just put it into the XTerra as well, but that would clearly intrude on the Pathfinder's market share, and would likely add to the XTerra's cost. I would think they might move the XTerra upscale a bit with a VQ (as they did with the Altima), then add a smaller, 4-cylinder cute-ute below the XTerra.

The new colors and interior looks pretty cool. :)

Minor interior changes indeed

From what I can tell, the interior is virtually identical (based on what I interpret from the pics here ^). The gauges are the same, the shifter and seat configuration is the same. It looks like they pushed the middle of the dash out a little instead of it being so flat so there are a few more grooves, and the bottom part right under the A/C controls is more rounded and stylish. Other than that, I can see no real changes from the looks of it. Unless they changed the materials used to something less plasticky, it seems to me the interior is virtually identical. The exterior didn't show any real change, either. I guess you don't mess with a winning idea.

Not from what I've read. I'll see if I can dig up the article that stated that it was based on the VQ.
