Nintendo64 emulation on Android

There's not exactly a shortage of video game emulators for Android devices, but there has been one notable, 64-bit exception. That's finally been rectified with the just-released N64oid application, however, which finally brings emulation of Nintendo 64 games to the platform -- and, like the other emulators from developer Yongzh, it's conveniently available right in the Android Market (for $5.99). As you might expect, there are a few glitches and hiccups to be found even on high-end phones like the Nexus S, but it does seem to run remarkably well for an initial release and, as Download Squad points out, you can also use a separate, freely-available app to add some Wiimote controls to the proceedings. Also, it means you can play Goldeneye on your phone. Video after the break.

Nice, I love many N64 games. It'd be interesting to see how Goldeneye plays on it.

Didn't play Rogue Squadron or *barf* Battle for Naboo. Starfox was choppy (unusable) with audio missing a lot on my oc'd OG Droid.

Oh God, I'm just trying to imagine how I would control Goldeneye on a phone. It was bad enough with the controller!

You can use a wiimote and nunchuck or you can use a ZeeMote. It says it's just for Nokia, but they released drivers for android also. You can download them off of the app market, but they cost $10. It will work with any game that allows you to change the input method.

It's too bad my Droid X doesn't have a kick stand otherwise it would be pretty simple to play games controlled with a wiimote and nunchuck. I also imagine I'd look pretty silly sitting in an office chair hunched over playing mario 64 on a smartphone with a wiimote when a big huge top of the line desktop computer is on the same desk and an xbox 360 connected to an HDTV is in the same room sitting idle.

Why would anyone use a Wiimote with an Android phone? That's what computers are for; computer-based emulators are free, more stable, and have a large enough screen to see.

I'm trying to imagine someone fishing a Wiimote + nunchuk out of their jacket pockets and then balancing their phone somehow while using it. LOL.

Yeah there's two in the market. FPSe is the newest and supposedly best one(I haven't used it), psx4droid is the older one(Has worked reasonably well for me).

Uh, I don't know, perhaps someone would want to play while on a trip or on vacation? The wiimote and nunchuck aren't that bulky, and the ZeeMote that I liked above is very small; it could easily fit in your pocket.
