There were people camping at the BB closest to me. All of the units were spoken for at the opening.
 
my CC had none and the one on dale mabry(in tampa) had 4. my bestbuy though had 51 units. i got picked one up for my friend

yeah only dumbasses will bear this unsual freeze for a $250 ownage console. if it was free i'd still would'nt. i'll pick one up when i walk into a store and some there. only then
 
I stood in line since 8:30AM and scored a couple wii's. If it wasn't for my wife wanting one, I would not bear the cold. I prefer the PS3 since the wii only supports 480P. There were alot of people who showed up after 9:30am and were turned away.

I don't know if any of you heard about the lady who died trying to get a wii. She participated in a local radio station contest, "Hold your wii to win a wii." They had her drink 2 gallons of water and not use the restroom. She died a few days later of water poisoning. She didn't even win! I think these consoles are too hyped up.

Agreed. Not only was I not going to get up early and freeze, I didn't want to pay full price either. Had a Toys R Us Amex 25% off certificate that expired by the end of January, and if I didn't find a Wii by then, I was going to wait til another deal happened along. Found one the third time in the store; 2 weeks ago. Got the console, 3 remotes and a nunchuk for a little over $300.

On a side note... I had two TRU certificates, but my wife and I only got one console even though they had 4 in stock. Fine if you have someone you know that wants one, but hoarders need to be taken out back and beaten with a rubber hose.
 
I must confess, I was planning on getting one yesterday cause of a $100 gift card from target. But one look outside and it was raining cats and dogs. THat was the end of my plan. I admire the commitment from some of these guys to brave the elements and standing in the freezing cold and rain for so many hours. Guess being American and having kids has something to do with it 😀
 
This is weird, I had no idea DS Lites were so hard to find. I've had one for a while now, I wonder what the short supply is all about? Is Nintendo concentrating on Wiis so much they forgot to make DS Lites or is there some new game I'm not aware of that's driving demand?

Nah, most of the TRU's in NYC are also out of Xbox 360's...and the one in Times Square has a manager that is a huge a-hole (wouldn't exchange my system for me that I bought at a different TRU). It's just the hangover from the holiday season still.

Either that or Elite Beat Agents really IS that good =p (actually I love the stupid game, and now I know all these random old "lite" songs lol)
 
Heh I just walked into a Game Crazy to browse and there was a guy buying a Wii. I'm like eh why not...and bought one of the last 3 from the box the clerk had just opened. I guess I got lucky. Man Wii bowling rocks! lol (this was a few weeks ago)
 
Stated in another thread, Sunday in Clarksville Tennessee around lunch time. I walked by and asked if they sold all their Wii's, the woman said nope, we still have 19 out of the 29 that came in. If I had the money would have bought them all. I got 0 of them and kept going. 🙂

i hate you... the demand isn't even that great anymore on ebay and most sell for under 300

nintendo was smart. they knew the 360's or ps3's graphics wouldnt be SO great that people wouldnt care how it plays. its not the early ps1 years. people didnt like video games because they were not fun unless you put real effort into learning them. nintendo saw this, and did something about it. with the wii, its noting else but fun. people are responding, the wii is exactly what most people wanted. i can only imagine how popular this system will be in a couple years. it all depends on the software now, if they make the games they should the wii just might CRUSH xbox and the ps3 COMBINED. they have proved their platform is a success, now lets see the games...

I think it's pretty safe to say the wii won't crush the combination of ps3 and xbox360, considering the 360 has been outselling the wii since the it came out...

DS LITE is SOOOOOOOOO freaking hard to find it's not even funny. Christmas shopping totally wiped them out. I promised my lil' bro a DS Lite (he has a regular 2 year old DS) for christmas. Christmas time I was too late as usual to the stores and EVERYBODY was sold out. People were selling them on craiglist for $170 - $200. So then I figure I will get him one for his birthday in January. His birthday comes and goes and I still can't freaking get my hands on DS Lite. So FINALLY today I walk into Gamecrazy and I see a single PINK DS Lite under the glass. WTF is he going to do with a PINK DS Lite???? It's february and I'm still trying to find one for my lil bro for his christmas/birthday present.

really? I keep seeing them in the ebgames in Boston.....They even had a used one the other day. that said, I think pink was the only color left.....
