Question Nintendo switch pro controller without battery

Hi all.

I've received one Nintendo Switch pro controller HAC-013
Apparently it won't charge over multiple usb-C cables.

I've opened it. Battery is bloated and probably dead. Without battery, it doesn't show any sign of life on my PC. Sadly, I don't have Switch to confirm it

Question...
Does controller work on PC without battery?? I don't wanna order new battery just to find out that controller is dead.

You said it doesn't show any signs of life on PC without a battery.

Also, the controller is picky about which USB-C cable it needs to charge it, as is the PS5. I have some USB-C cables that I use for like my wireless phone charger, and things like that, and those don't always work to charge my PS5 and Switch controllers. I don't know if it's because those are missing the data cables or what, but something is different about them and they don't work.

The cable that came with the controller doesn't charge at all? You should see an orange light on the top if it's charging.
 
Well this all around sounds shady so someone probably sold you a dead controller and/or a knockoff.

Google to see how you can tell if it's authentic it's hard to explain. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a knockoff too.
