Sure, the XBox is more expensive but its games will be ten times better. >>
ever heard of the dreamcast?

those with the most consoles sold wins. xbox will have some good games, gamecube will have good games. this is a pointless arguement at this point though, we'll wait till november for the fights.
199$ was what they said release price will be. im guess that it'll be anywhere from 169-199$ when it debuts. nintendo has said they will have more than enough units to satisfy demand at launch (i want to say 1.4 million, and launch being until the 1st of the new year). like 800,000 when it debuts and 600,000 more by christmas. i can look it up if anyway really wants to know. i think the xbox is pushing for 1.2million. if nintendo can get more units out retailers are more likely to lower the price or have better deals. even the gba had some wicked deals at 25% off (the bluelight) and many places had it for 89$ at launch. so that would be 180$ for the gc if it follows the same pattern, which i really hope it does. likewise i imagine the xbox (priced at 299$) will sell for 279-299$.
we'll also have to wait and see what the true costs for ownership are at the start. i think a good guide would be
system price:
3 games:
2 controllers total (purchase one):
memory card:
cables or other accesories:
