Nintendo Online

Anyone excited for this?

I am not. The service is cheap, but what we get for it is;

-The ability to do what we've already been doing for free for the last year and a half; play online.
-Access to 20 NES games that hold no appeal to those with a NES Classic such as myself.
-The "privilege" of giving Nintendo even more money in the form of two wireless NES pads that snap onto the Switch like Joy Cons for $60.
-Cloud Saves. But you better be careful your sub never runs out. The moment it lapses, Nintendo will delete your saves. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/apparently-nintendo-switch-will-delete-your-cloud-/1100-6461803/ I was excited for this feature, but now I think I won't bother for peace of mind purposes by just keeping my saves local.

I think I could forgive all of this if they would just give us dedicated servers. But having to pay money just for Peer2Peer leaves a seriously sour taste in my mouth.

No

But I'll probably have to so I can keep playing rocket league. Nintendo's attempt at an online service is so far from being ready for prime time that they have no business charging for it in its current state. Putting features that should be a given behind a pay wall rubs me the wrong way.

You know those two NES controllers they're selling for $60? Well it seems like you can't use them if your sub rounds out.

Gating use of a controller you paid for behind a subscription?! Seriously Nintendo?!

What? The article says:

These new Joy-Cons are shaped like NES controllers, and you'll only be able to buy them if you're an online subscriber.

It says nothing about their use, just their purchase.

The NES games they give you for their online require an online check in every 7 days. One week, that's nothing. People go on vacation for that amount of time. Not even at least two weeks.
