Nintendo GameCube problems thread...

OK, so the GameCube has been out a week now. All launches have problems, like SEGA's Dreamcast GD-ROM manufacturing problem so I'm just wanting to see if any of you have had any strange ocurrences. Any lock-ups, defects, or even Rip-offs? Not that I'm picking on the GCN or anything (I'm sure the X-Box will have MANY more problems); it's my fave of all next-gen systems and I'm a HUGE Nintendo fan, but I'm sure there are some problems to be worked out.

So far, I've only been playing Luigi's Mansion (US & Japanese version), Waverace Bluestorm (Japanese version) & Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II.
So far, it seems that almost every bug I have or anyone else has seen (Or at least, remembered) has been with RL:RSII.
I've experienced (And remember, we're just nit-picking):
A lock-up during a cinema scene in the second "nebula" level (Chad says his copy keeps locking up on him, though no gameplay details given. Mine locked-up during a transition between gameplay & cinema scene, when the screen faded totally black but never changed scenes)
Inability to throttle up in the training stage; can't even pass the training exersice for "gently pressing the R button" (May be time-of-day dependant?)
Corrupted level textures & animations obstructing/replacing your targetting computer overlay (First experienced by vetteguy, though your targeting computer is visible, no enemies are highlighted making the corrupted object partially covering your display seem to replace the entire overlay texture)
Ground troops "levitating" in the air at ship-height (Seen twice, I think once in the Battle of Hoth it had to do with an AT-AT falling on one)
Inbility to move on the level-select menu (Deleted save off the Memory Card 59, recreated my file, friends created & played 2 more plus played mine to the second level. Deleted & recreated mine & was unable to move to training until I left & re-entered the menu!)

vetteguy has experienced a stuck targetting computer (Not the Targetting Computer Upgrade, it really get "stuck" on) in the asteroid level while getting the corrupted overlay issue. I haven't seen the problem in that level specifically, but it may be an issue)

And this rip-off:
Electronics Botique charges you more than the cost of all the items in the GC bundle (Which already makes you buy stuff you don't want)when you reserve the GameCube, so it's already a rip-off, but I specifically asked when/how I was supposed to pick up my "Game Over" book & GameNowmagazine subscription while I was reserving it. They told me to get them when I pick up the system (Nov 18th, 1 week ago). When I arrived, they told me I was supposed to get it then & that I couldn't have one of the copies of the book because they "were all in inventory." I also didn't get the magazine subscription card & they made no attempt to make it right. Oh well, I wasn't interested in buying that book or subscription in the first place but that just means they took my ~$20 extra & didn't give me squat Technically, their just "bonuses" anyway, but I still called EB's Customer Service number (It's just for the web site, but they can file store complaints) even though I told the store guys I didn't really want to buy them anyway (Doen't mean I wanted to pay for them!). The store manager is supposed to give me a call monday (Maybe they'll refund me the added cost!). Maybe they'll make it right...
Also, everything was brought in from the back in a big bag with my telephone number on it. Everything was thrown in (As the missing items also should have been, but they weren't) & all the plastic package's corners punctured the heavy console's cardboard box in multiple places. All preorders were handled like this therefore any collector that would reserve his (Which "collector" wouldn't?) would have a destroyed box like me. Eh, I'll just find some kid with one for Christmas that doesn't want his box.

I hope this isn't considered off-topic because it's GC hardware, but I'm just hoping to start a more technical thread here (All the related boards on other sites seem dead or full of poke-lamers anyway)...

This post is a reposted compiliation of an older thread.

I've been playing MonkeyBall with my spare time, and I have yet to have a hint of a problem in terms of crashing or glitches. I've heard of the RL2 problems on numerous boards and one of the "cures" people bring up is a very careful cleaning of the disk.

Didn't preorder mine(not possible in my area), just got in line outside my local Wal-Mart at 6am(store opened at 8 and it was about 20degrees farenheit, I was number 4) and waited. When I got in they had the GameCubes at the service desk(already had handed out numbers to people) very carefully stacked with games and accessories and very carefully handled all of the merchendise(moreso then I have ever seen at WalMart). Odd that the standard for poor quality would handle an electronics launch better then EB..

Anyway, everything has been absolutely flawless for me, though I won't be picking up a second game unti December 3rd for my personal system(crashing console titles are very quickly blacklisted for me, perhaps someone will grab me it for a XMas gift....). Ahh well, at least you get a bump out of my post😉

I have had a few of thoughs problems with rl. I had it lock up on me once when it was going from the game select screen to the game. I restarted it and no more problems. I also have had my targeting computer not show the enemies. But other than that, thats all i have incountered.
I also have wave race and no problems there.

I had a friend experience the inability to move on the level select screen again, though this time it was on an existing file.

never had a problem with rogue leader myself... and we played the hell outta that game
