And the balance board itself seems like it'd have some cool applications for other games.

Snowboarding FTW! 😀

My first thought too

Turn the board 90 degrees, lean the direction you want to turrn, a little hop to do jumps and use the wiimote to do tricks. Badass indeed.

The soccer mini-game looked fun. The rest of the WiiFit board presentation with the exercising didn't do anything for me.

Its over :!

Alright... Everyone to Sony press conference thread. We can come back to this thread later after its over 🙂 .

wonder what the weight limit is for the board.
I can see someone using it and jumping on it, only to have it break in half.

My thoughts exactly. I'm a big guy. I doubt I'll be able to play any of the games that utilize it.

Maybe they'll make an "XL" version with re-enforced steel construction for the larger crowd.

Not as meaty as I hoped...they didnt show enough of the "core" games.

They did show some new parts of metroid which looks better every time, but they had some dumb blonde controlling it that was just not holding up her part of the bargain. He explained how to use the visors and the locks and she just didnt do it. 🙁

Mario galaxy looks absolutely incredible, but we already knew that.

Mario kart looks like...mario kart. The wheel looks a lot better than the third party crap from GT Pro, but I probably would have preferred analog steering and IR point/shoot. But at least its online.

The wii zapper looks excellent as well - again, a lot better than the third party crap. All the buttons are accessible, its looks comfy, and the fact that its a submachinegun is pretty badass. Ghost squad was damn fun in the arcades because it was an SMG, too bad they didnt throw an extra 20 rumble motors in it to really get the right feel. But I'm def looking forward to it.

And although Wii fit isnt a "game", they did sell it really well and it does look excellent. I know my GF is going to really dig it, and I'll probably use it myself. Its probably going to be as big if not bigger than Wii sports - expect another massive shortage this xmas, even though the one from launch hasnt even really cleared up yet. 😛

I wished they showed a bit more of SSBB, Metroid and Mario, and they didnt show ANYTHING about battalion wars or disaster...hopefully some decent trailers come out.

Overall, not too bad, at least not a total snooze like the MS conference....now its sonys turn...

Where do you work or are you a kid in school ?

Welcome to the world of websense.
Winner. Websense tries to keep me from goofing off and not working, yet they allow access to AT...go figure.

Honestly, I was more bored at the Nintendo conference. They kept showing informercials and montages of news reports and YouTube clips that all said the same thing over and over and over. Then Reggie and Iwata spent an incredible amount of time just yacking. Then, while the some of the WiiFit was interesting it dragged on waaaay too long.

Not enough focus on the games they've got coming up.

Back in the day when they had it set at idiotproff (meaning you had to be an idiot to not be able to bypass it) I didn't care. Now it's set such that there are only a handfull of sites you can access, mostly of the .edu or .gov types.

This is true, but at least they showed stuff that we havent seen before. I mean not only did MS show the same games, they basically showed the same trailers.

The zap gun does look nice, but I wonder how well you can move around with both controllers on the gun chasis.

32 player multiplay for MOH 🙂

So you saw that Halo 3 trailer already? And the Mass Effect one? And the line-up of all the XBLA trailers? And the Lost Odyssey one? And the PGR4 one? And the Assassin's Creed footage? Naruto? Scene-It?

Not saying that some of the trailers weren't repeats...especially the 3rd party games...but to say they were all basically the same trailers? Nope.

Man oh man.

I really think I may sell my Wii.

Mario Galaxy looks lame. I hate the whole "there is no gravity" theme in that game. But I will still wait to try it out before I pass my final judgement.

Mario Kart looks like it's identical to the DS version, and when he said that noobs can hang on with veterans the whole time that basically told me the game has no depth and is simple ass gameplay. I'll pass considering the only good Mario Kart is the SNES one and the rest have sucked, aside from the DS one being just okay. And that steering wheel ... what is it, 3 inches in diameter?

I have never liked Super Smash Brothers so I'll be passing on this new one as well.

Metroid Prime 3 looks like it may be the 1 reason I keep my Wii. That game definitely looks like it has some potential. But I don't know - watching that chick play it looked like she had problems turning as smooth as when you use a normal controller.

Everything else on it ... I dunno. The Wii just seems very unimpressive in the near future based on the games they showed.

I noticed that too. Some of the exact same tracks.

Granted, the tracks in the DS version are the best of the best of all the Mario Karts but there's gotta be some new ones in there for the Wii version.
