Honestly, I was more bored at the Nintendo conference. They kept showing informercials and montages of news reports and YouTube clips that all said the same thing over and over and over. Then Reggie and Iwata spent an incredible amount of time just yacking. Then, while the some of the WiiFit was interesting it dragged on waaaay too long.

Not enough focus on the games they've got coming up.

This is true, but at least they showed stuff that we havent seen before. I mean not only did MS show the same games, they basically showed the same trailers.

So you saw that Halo 3 trailer already? And the Mass Effect one? And the line-up of all the XBLA trailers? And the Lost Odyssey one? And the PGR4 one? And the Assassin's Creed footage? Naruto? Scene-It?

Not saying that some of the trailers weren't repeats...especially the 3rd party games...but to say they were all basically the same trailers? Nope.

Thats just the impression I had after sitting through it...like I hadnt seen anything I didnt already see or know before.

Nintendo is all about the causal market now. They think the zapper and wii wheel are revolutionary product that will change the way you think about FPS and racing which is BS. How do move with a wii zapper accurately ?

Anyways 360 and PS3 are the only console that will serious epic games. Wii only serious epic game is zelda which was sort of gay as link wouldn't talk in the whole game and looks so gayish at every character that he tries communicate with them. But Zelda TP game play is awesome and the game is overall excellent.

Nintendo is all about the casual market NOW...because its wide open and ready to be taken advantage of while Sony and MS fight over the hardcore market.

Theres still plenty of money in the hardcore market, just thats its pretty obvious when youve got two massive companies like MS and Sony willing to bleed money to fight over that single market, it'd be pretty stupid to jump in yourself when there are greener pastures around the corner that have barely been touched. It was a risk for sure, but it paid off, and they are more than prepared financially speaking to stand up and fight against anything Sony or MS can throw at them.

Once Sony and MS start creeping into their territory, which is already slowly happening, they'll start creeping back into the hardcore market in more full force...because theres still a hell of a lot of money there.

They can easily drop a PS3 level HD console in xmas 09 for $250-300, and still keep the Wii around for $100-150, just like they did with the GBA and DS. Whether or not they will depends on how well the Wii does over the next few years, but I dont think theyve forgotten the hardcore crowd and the money they have at all. If Sony can go from loved to hated by the hardcore within months, nintendo can go from hated to loved by the hardcore just the same.

If I want real hardcore, there's not much on the consoles that can beat my PC. The Wii is for fun, and the different controller structure is heading that way.

Well, aside from the incoherent nature of the message, its just completely off base. Are they going after the "casual" market? Sure, why wouldn't they? But I don't get this "epic games" stuff at all. Zelda is geared towards the hard core gamer, as someone new to gaming would find it way too difficult. But apparently its "gay" so that makes it less of a game or something.

Oh, dont worry dude, I get it. Yeah, Im disappointed too. I was disappointed when the Wii wasnt even HD.

But Zelda, Mario Galaxy and Metroid are still the same traditional "hardcore" games they always were. Paper Mario was just as "hardcore", if not more so, than the ones before it. You only need to take one look at Galaxy to see that its been anything but dumbed down. Mario kart looks just the same as it always was. What traditional nintendo game were you looking for that is now a casual game? Because I'm not seeing them. What are they missing? Theyre basically launching three nuclear bombs with metroid, mario and SSBB this year, and youre complaining that theres not enough traditional nintendo games?

The same editors that are lamenting over how they focused on Wii Fit more than SSBB are absolutely gushing over metroid and mario, just like they were gushing over zelda, just like they will be gushing over SSBB.

Theres 60 something wii titles out, with a ton of them being casual, and NONE of them have even broke 1 mil. The only one that has is Wii Play, and that doesnt really count because people bought it for the controller. The only other two are Zelda and Paper Mario, both traditional nintendo "hardcore" games.

They know where the money is. Traditional nintendo games are NOT going away. They were pandering to the mainstream media with Wii Fit, but if youre not satisfied with Mario, Metroid, Zelda and SSBB within months of each other, youre not going to be satisfied with ANYTHING.

Mark my words. Xmas 09, new nintendo system that can match 360. I'll put money on it.

The Wii has sold over half as many consoles so far as the X360 has to date; over a nine month period compared to a 28 month lifespan. With that number of consoles in the market, it will be the unwise studio that decides to not publish games for the Wii.
