I have the DS and don't see having a camera as a reason to upgrade/pay for another portable. I'd rather spend the money on a different system like the PSP. I already have a digital camera (stand alone and in my cell phone).

Dsi really has no major upgrade worth shelling out $200 for.

If you're new to the DS communtiy, but a used DSlite or even old school DS. I'm very very happy with my old school DS and still play it, I actually like the size and button feel of it better than the lite.

Buy a flashcard (r4, dstop, whatever) if you want to play emulated NES, GB, or GBA games. Not sure if there's an SNES emu for DS, but I have my PSP for that 😛

If you had no DS to begin with, however, I could perhaps see buying a DSi...

I would still likely just buy a DS lite though.
