Ordered mine from Volumerate in early December and they updated my order page a few days ago with a tracking #.
I'll post when it comes in. (When I have time away from playing with it!)

Finally got my R4!
Works like a charm!
I can't figure out how to use the picture viewer however. I used the converter, but got lost from there...

I cancelled my volume rate order and ordered the latest R4 revision, with support for SHCD cards. I also ordered a few other goodies, which they promptly shipped, but I haven't received the new R4 yet - still out of stock.

Newegg has the Kingston 2GB MicroSD for $19.99 and free shipping with promo code EMC1204FLME01 for newsletter subscribers. There is a $3.00 rebate valid thru the 10th to go along with it if you feel like bothering with it.

Kingston 2GB MicroSD

Edit: Rebate has a limit of 2.

And I thought twitchy weiner guy was gone...

I got mine after 24 days.... It seems as if all of you guys are getting the R4s. I have TT. their website www.ndstt.com and it doesn't load... Did I get jipped?

Anybody get this DSTT like I did? Let me know guys...

I finally got my R4's today.

I read the Wikepedia homebrew page and various links and I'm still not sure what to do. I want to put all of my DS games on each of my kids DS lites so I don't have to listen to them fight any more. Can someone link me to a simple guide on how to use the R4? I also have 2Gb micro SD cards. Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks,

Joe M.

Very easy to use. Ended up putting 35 nds roms (drag and drop) with about 500mb left. --- shifty eyes ---

This sounds like what I want to do.

See my above post...

The DSTT is still pretty new so hopefully the manufacturer supports it with updated firmwares, so as long as they do, it should be a pretty good cart.

The DSTT is a good cartridge, exactly the same as the new R4, so you are fine. It is 100% compatible with the R4, so you can load the same Moonshell operating system and treat is just like an R4. I actually wanted to buy the TTDS card, but they were sold out.

This may be a stupid question, but with an R4, is it possible to write some homebrew or something else to sit between the DS's wireless software and actual wireless device so as to allow the DS to be able to use WPA or WPA2 (ie, anything other than WEP only)?

EDIT: Also, is it still possible to get the R4's or is there something else that works just as well or better?

Thanks!

All of the flash carts for DS drain the battery. I don't really know why though. What's most annoying is that when you leave it is standby (close the lid) it drains WAY faster than when you have a retail cart.

I always change the brightness setting to the lowest that I can still see well. This significantly increases battery life. If you have it on the brightest setting, it will only last for 3 or 4 hours at most. (guesstimating)

I dont have any issues with the battery life.

I usually get about 1 less hour using the R4DS instead of the regular cartridge

Is it possible to put all of my DS games on one of these supercard things that use SD / miniSD / microSD? If so, how does it work? Some kind of boot menu that lets you choose which game to play?

Yes, they are made to have multiple roms on them. If you get a 1 gig micro SD, you can fit at least 6 or 7 of the biggest DS games, or a ton of the smaller games. The biggest roms are 130 MB, but those are rare. The next largest is 64 MB. THey are even smaller if you use a trimming tool.

When you boot up there will be a menu of games to choose from.

BTW, you can't actually rip your own games, you have to download them.

How to Backup a DS Cartridge.

Actually, you can with the link provided. The program is not very intuitive, but it works like a champ.

- It can also be used to backup/restore saved games. Just be careful with that because the first time I deleted my son's Pokemon Pearl save game with the special Manophy download. He was not happy.
