Nintendo DS/DS Lite Question

Does the touch screen accumulate scratches over time? If so, are there any peel-off protectors you can get for it, or would such an item not work due to the nature of the screen?

There are screen protectors. I don't have a DS/Lite, but I know they exist because they've been made for PocketPC's for years.

For the DS, the Hori brand protectors are supposed to be the best.

As long as your stylis has a little bit of liquid to clean it off, it shouldn't scratch the screen. And yes there are peel-off protectors.

Looks like Nintendo even makes some, I just found THIS at the Toys 'R' Us website. I will see if I can track down any of the Hori ones though, thanks. :)

I have a Lite, which sees regular use by myself, my wife, and even my mother when I visit. It has zero scratches. A dozen people at work bring their Lites regularly. Zero scratches.

I've heard of many instances of screen protectors actually ruining the screen. I'd say the same people that give their screens major scratches are the same ones that are throwing wiimotes at their televisions.

I have a DS Lite, and I use the dragon screen protectors. They're not really a well known brand, but they work well. However, you lose your warranty if you use non-Hori screen protectors, so Hori is best bet unless you case mod or flash your DS like I did.

The kids have manage to put a pretty good amount of scratches on their DS touch screen :(
They lost the stylus and decided it'd be a good idea to use a popsicle stick. By the time I caught them and said NO, it was too late.

I think you need to look closer at those screens in the proper lighting. I'm normally extremely careful with my belongins, and in my experience it is an extremely delicate screen. I've been playing Mario Kart, which doesn't even use the touch screen, and somehow light scratches are showing up on the lower screen. I can only see them from the right angle in full sunlight, but they are there.

You can get the Hori Screen protectors from your local Fry's, and if you don't have a Fry's near you:

This place is where I bought my screen protectors before I realised they sold them at Fry's. $5 shipped, and theres some other cool stuff on there too. Guy ships usually within a week of sending him a payment.

definitely get a screen protector. I love the invisibleshield for my rebel (got it mainly because I suck at making decent traced cuts). But not sure I could justify it for the DS... I just picked up the pelican ones from the store, works well enough. Buddy of mine suggested to wipe the tip of the stylus before playing every time. It helped him. I always forget to though.
