anybody know if the screen has backlighting like the advance??

Yes, it does. Both screens are lighted and clear when playing at night. Madden is pretty sweet. I bought Asphalt Urban GT, too - but the reviews came back pretty abysmal. Waiting to return it to get a different game - probably will wait for Tiger Woods...

Looks like mine shipped already, but the tracking number is linked to something that was delivered in February of this year. Anyone else having this problem?

These things are clogging the shelves all around where I live in Wisconsin. I bought one myself on release day at Target and even when I went out late Black Friday every store I went to was overstocked on them. I just hope it sells well enough to generate tons of new DS games

Consider yourself lucky. People will cannibalize each other in Orlando for one of these. Especially at this time of the year.

i think i'll wait for some good games to come out for it . . . .

but i've already played it, and boy, does it look GOOD!

I just picked one up at the Antigo Wal-Mart on my way up North a few days back. Swank system, but it should have had an analog stick.

Nitpick: The GBA SP (and Afterburner-modded GBA) actually featured a frontlit screen. But to answer your question, yes, the DS has backlighting for both screens.

I played with one at a store display this past week. It's pretty slick when they make the two screens act as one tall screen, like in the Metroid intro. At a quick glance, graphics were very much on par with a handheld N64 which is a good leap for portable gaming.

I like this system alot, just dont know if im ready to part with $150 when my GBA SP is still a very viable little handheld. Though I'm told my flash cart from Hong Kong should work just the same in the DS's GBA slot 😀

be careful with the flash cart, I have 2 that will not work. The ds only accepts gba carts not gameboy color. It seems many of the flash cart housings are based on the older gameboy carts and wont physically fit. I might have to do some dremel work on the carts to make em go. 🙂

It seems sold out online btw.

Some places to look, check out any pokemon stores if you have any near you, thats where i scored mine. (didnt know these pokemon stores were owned by nintendo)
I also hear most big box stores like target, cc, bbuy and such have decent stock. The ebgames and gamestop hyped this launch way too much, not nearly as hard to find as ppl think.
You can tell by how much they're selling on egay, 179-200 seems to the norm.

The week ive had it its been fun, though its criminal the d pad isnt analog. Needlessly screws up mario 64, which is a brilliant game hampered by crappy controls.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm aware of the fact that the slot is GBA only and not GB/GBC compatible. However, since I have an EZ-Flash Advance 256M cart which is exactly the dimensions of a standard GBA cart, I should be ok. If I really need to play an older game, I can just install a GB/GBC emulator on the EZFA and I'm good to go 🙂

in stock for me, my sister has one, for anyone looking for a very interesting and fun game that really utilizes the DS's touch screen and microphone, try out the Sega game Feel the Magic (or something like that), its VERY fun and creative, although short.
