Good game and one that is frustrating. The difficulty is up there but its not impossible once you learn the patterns of the bosses (I used the flying swallow move almost exclusively against the later bosses..that move just tears them to shreads!). You also need to take things slowly sometimes when fighting multiple enemies like blocking at all times, counter and evade.

The only thing that truly makes things difficult is how enemies and bosses grab you and you have no way to reverse it...and holy cow they take off insane amounts of life! I'm not fond of the jumping and camera but thats usually the case with many 3D action games anyways.

The game took me a bit over a week to finish off.

the hurricane packs can be downloaded via Live or through torrents if your xbox is modded.

I'm stuck on the 2nd level with the two horsemen now. Part of the reason I'm having so much difficulty is because of how the camera pans... 75% of the time I can't see the damn horses. Trying to get them in view so I can shoot at them with arrows just gets me killed.

INCREDIBLE game. I just wish Team Ninja would stop making crappy Dead of Alive stuff and make more and more Ninja Gaidens.

people should ban Tecmo for suing NinjaHacker.net
(for those who dont know NH was a site where people make custom skins for games like DOA, DOAU, DOAXBV and Soul Calibur)

Damn is it hard! I've got almost 10 hours into it now and I'm part-way through Chapter 10. I'm using a FAQ now though. No way in hell could I get through the game in any reasonable amount of time without a FAQ. And I'm only playing on Normal. When I first started I got beat down a ton, but it's gotten easier now that my ninja skills are l33t.

I wish they had some sort of online versus mode that just placed you in an arena and you got to fight another ninja player. The combat would be IMO much better than fighting games like Soul Calibur even though it wasn't built for versus.

Anyone else still playing this game? I will probably start a Hard game if I ever beat it on Normal.

Couple questions.. are talisman's a necessity for the later chapters? I stupidly used the one that is given to you early on in the game and haven't found or purchased anymore since. I'm usually filling up on potions at every Muramasa statue. I do have enough karma lately to purchase a talisman, but not sure if its worth the big 15k when that may be better spent on other things.

Should I bother upgrading any other weapon than the DS? I got a lvl 3 dragon sword but my nunchucks, flails, and just acquired Dihibarlo sword are all lvl1.

Also, I got a couple of the demon seal that upgrade your ninpo. I currently have the fire wheels, ice storm, and now the electric ninpo. Are they worth upgrading? I heard the ice storm is great but I can't seem to really use it well. Do all I do is activate it and it does the rest?

welcome to yesteryear.

Yeah the camera is pretty much crap in a lot of parts of the game.. but the game is so damn good I can forgive that weakness.

For the horsemen I found it easiest to just wait there and hold Y so that you are charged up, then as soon a horse comes into view (you'll have just enough time), let go and you'll charge him, then you can get a few slashes in. Then he'll run away and you should charge up with Y again for the next one to come into view then do the same to him. I also found it easier to use the walls against them. Stay mobile and jump off the walls then hit Y to get them. Either one of these techniques should get you past them.

I've had the most success doing something similar to that... the only problem is while I'm "charging" they're throwing things at me and damaging me pretty good.

I read about another method which involves slashing the horses' legs until they die and fall and then you can kill the dudes riding them. I had zero success with that, lol.

Great game. It has a lot of depth to it. Ryu has as many moves as a character from Soul Calibur II and though you could somewhat button mash your way to success, mastering the different combos and moves is the highlight of the game. It has a great sense of style.

The camera sucks, though.

All these people saying "game is too hard" probably weren't old enough during NES era. There were some pretty damn difficult games back then. Most of today's games are quiet easy.

Actually I was. I played the original on NES. I actually got NES for Christmas when it first came out.

I also played Ninja Gaiden on the NES when I was a kid. I was really into it, to the point of my plugging my NES to my tape recorder so I could put the music on tape. I loved the tunes they had, specially the first level.

I think the NES classic is actually easier than the X-Box version. At least on the NES version you didn't have to learn 50 different 15 button combos, it was good ole' slash-slash-ninja star-slash-jump action.

Maybe I'm just getting old.
