Ninja Gaiden is so frickin awesome

It's been out for a while, but damn it must be the best game I've played on the Xbox. The graphics are suberb and the combat system is way better than any game I've played. The animations are so real and varied. Most games could only dream to play as well as this game.

Damn is it hard! I've got almost 10 hours into it now and I'm part-way through Chapter 10. I'm using a FAQ now though. No way in hell could I get through the game in any reasonable amount of time without a FAQ. And I'm only playing on Normal. When I first started I got beat down a ton, but it's gotten easier now that my ninja skills are l33t.

I wish they had some sort of online versus mode that just placed you in an arena and you got to fight another ninja player. The combat would be IMO much better than fighting games like Soul Calibur even though it wasn't built for versus.


Anyone else still playing this game? I will probably start a Hard game if I ever beat it on Normal.

Couple questions.. are talisman's a necessity for the later chapters? I stupidly used the one that is given to you early on in the game and haven't found or purchased anymore since. I'm usually filling up on potions at every Muramasa statue. I do have enough karma lately to purchase a talisman, but not sure if its worth the big 15k when that may be better spent on other things.

Should I bother upgrading any other weapon than the DS? I got a lvl 3 dragon sword but my nunchucks, flails, and just acquired Dihibarlo sword are all lvl1.

Also, I got a couple of the demon seal that upgrade your ninpo. I currently have the fire wheels, ice storm, and now the electric ninpo. Are they worth upgrading? I heard the ice storm is great but I can't seem to really use it well. Do all I do is activate it and it does the rest?
 
game is awesome. don't forget there are Hurricane Update Packs out there.
the Pack updates the quirky camera (my only gripe with the game) and adds some other stuff too.

too bad the game isnt 720p, but in 480p with the HD pack looks amazing.

Way too difficult and button-mashing gameplay is super frustrating. If i want that much frustration i will do my Physic homework instead.

Me too... they're releasing another version soon with an Easy difficulty setting, along with the two Hurricane packs. I'll probably trade in my original copy for that when it comes out.
 
Beat it. One of the best games on the box, don't really care if they hop on with sony as long as it comes to the 360 as well. I sold my copy before the release of the live content but wish I had waited. I've heard its some of the best live download content to date.
 
The game isn't THAT hard. It's hard relatively to most new games out now.

If you call not being able to beat a boss on the VERY FIRST TRY as 'too hard', then Ninja Gaiden isn't for you.

The bosses actually require multiple losses to learn the strategy. And this game is anything but button mashing.

EASILY the best game on xbox by far.
 
Ninja Gaiden 2 for NES was the best. The xbox version was so-so, If you play shinobi on PS2 its pretty much the same thing.

Ninja Gaiden's reputed tremendous difficulty levels is what has kept me from buying it.

I ain't going to waste a whole afternoon(s) to beat some friggin boss!

Not some friggin boss... the FIRST boss. It took me a month of playing off and on to finally beat him.

I LOVE challenges like this! I've been hearing about NG ever since it came out. Now that it's $29.99 at Fry's, I think I'm gonna have to pick it up.

Yep. Go back and play Ghosts 'n Goblins on MAME and then tell me Ninja Gaiden is hard. I haven't played Ninja Gaiden but GnG was freakin' ridiculous!
 
Beat that fvcker in 5 days after it came out, it was hard, but after you defeated a boss it was always felt rewarding. good game.

i think the problem with many of you is what someone said above, this is NOT A button mashing game. you have to use the block button, evade enemies and play smart.

the hurricane packs can be downloaded via Live or through torrents if your xbox is modded.

The first one was ridiculously hard at the end. I beat it once in college.

The second one was challenging but much easier than the first.

I never really played the third but I heard it was incredibly hard (limited continues!).
