I fully disagree with you, thepresece
Football is all about momentum. It's hard to argue against that. That's why the Giants / Jets / Titans are all being revered as being great right now. They have/had what was important, momentum. They were winning going into the playoffs. Momentum.
Speaking specifically of the Giants, they had momentum going into the playoffs and they had momentum for the whole first half of the game. The fact that the Niners still perservered and overcame that momentum and came away with the win, proves they are the better team. You can say "giants beat themselves" or whatever, but it's just plain retarded to say they are a better team. Losing a 38-14 lead in the third quarter disolves you of being a playoff caliber team.
Sure, momentum counts for a lot in Football, but talent counts for more. Position by position the Giants outclass the Niners. Easy. Besides for QB and one certain WR, the Giants own the niners talentwise. But this is a dumb argument. The Giants lost, the Niners won.
You can't say a team is better because position per position a team has better talent. That's insane and prolly true for pickup games in high school, where there is no DEFENSIVE Coordinator, Head coach or any sort coach. These guys are coached by someone and 2 people make the decision of what defense to play, Head and defensive coach. The defense is reflection upon the Defensive and Head coach. So, the two coaches for the Giants choked and didn't know how to contain a no huddle offense.
Yes the niners won but you are arguing whether the Giants are the better team. I say not. By your convention, last weeks game between the Giants and Eagles. I hardly call Barber's three fumbles an act of a great player. Eagles folded and Giants are the better team. Did they deserve to win and be called the better team because they took CONTROL of the game and played with a cool head?
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Stop making excuses for special circumstances.
