I just heard a press conference from him on the radio at 12:30pm PST today...sucks for him. I feel like he kind of got a rough deal but that's how it goes in the NFL. Plus he still gets paid. Also if that QB could just get his turnovers under control they'd be fine. Oh well, I hate the niners anyway, but respected Nolan. I also hate the raiders.

The Niners should have all their fans from being blue-balled and fired him before the season started. He went 7-9 in his 2nd season then 5-11 last year. That momentum's in the wrong direction...

Oh yeah, and please please please get a new QB. Without O'Turnover the Niners had opportunities to beat the Eagles and the Giants.

Nolan was a nice guy, but was completely out of touch and unwilling to listen to his own players: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/...ogid=45&entry_id=31733

At the end of three weeks of rehabilitation, Smith's shoulder was hurting but functional but his arm felt weak. While throwing warm-up passes before practice, he felt a twinge in his forearm and the ball flew out of his hand. Smith tried to ignore it, but the arm hampered him and it grew weak after a hour or so of throwing.

Smith went to Nolan. He told him he felt he was no longer helping the team, and he said he was going to say the strength staff ruined his rehab. Nolan told Smith he couldn't say that. Smith agreed, but he wanted Nolan to say what he had just told him that his injuries were making him ineffective, which seemed evident to even the casual fan.

But Nolan never held up his end. Instead he insisted that Smith was medically cleared to play and his bad quarterbacking had nothing to do with his injuries. Smith was stunned and he didn't know what to do. He finally told the press he was frustrated that Nolan kept saying he was healthy when he wasn't.

Then Nolan had another "miscommunication" with wide receiver Arnaz Battle. Battle apparently sat down with Nolan and explained why he wasn't going to participate in the voluntary OTA's in the spring. But when Battle didn't show up, Nolan said he didn't know why Battle wasn't at the start of OTA's. Again, it was chalked up to a miscommunication.

My favorite part:

One last example - a reporter asked Nolan about wide receiver Josh Morgan's staph infection that caused the rookie to lose 15 pounds. Nolan said that was just internet speculation. Then he asked the reporter where he got that information.

"Josh Morgan" was the response.

Go read some thread at 49ers.com. A lot of people say that Nolan never listened to his players and was always the first to place blame.

Mike Singletary is going to be replace him as head coach. Niners need help in a big way. They've sucked for too long. :(

EDIT: Thread title updated :p

Unfortunately with the owner/management they've got, I don't have much hope for the future. They'll be one of the crappy teams that might get a little string of luck now and then and make the playoffs, but will quickly retreat back to crappitude.

They need a new QB too.

A lot of teams need a new QB. There's a big shortage this year.

In fact, WTF is going on with the NFL anyway? Coaches getting fired left and right, every good veteran QB is underperforming or injured, every new QB is disappointing, and there aren't even many great draft picks on the horizon for next year!

Matt Ryan of Atlanta has been doing good. Esp since he is a first year and been thrown staight up to starter. Should do well next year after adjusting to the NFL and getting more play with current recievers.

I agree. The Niners need a Mark Cuban type owner who will bring them back to greatness.
